We sat down with Tim Sims, VP of inventory partnerships at The Trade Desk, at Cannes Lions to get his take on what’s shaping the state of programmatic buying today. In the video above, he shares his insights on buy-side developments for mobile, how programmatic will follow the Internet into the living room via connected TV and OTT, and what the biggest misconception is about programmatic (hint: it has to do with price).

Mobile, Sims notes, is driving many of the new programmatic opportunities. “You kind of exist in the world with your mobile device and being able to participate in that journey with the consumer is a really powerful opportunity for advertisers,” he explains. “You can serve an audio ad, a display ad, a vertical video ad, an interstitial video ad. There’s so much opportunity inside of that little mobile ecosystem that we carry in our pockets every day.”
