What Do You Think Of The New Experimental YouTube Mobile Design?

By Megan O'Neill

Back in July YouTube launched Cosmic Panda, a new experimental redesign of the site with a simplified, sleeker look.  Now they’ve taken their redesign mobile.  The new experimental YouTube Mobile site draws in elements from Cosmic Panda, darkening things up a bit to make it easier on the eyes.

As you can see from the screenshots below, the new visual design, like Cosmic Panda, has replaced a lot of the light areas of the screen with black and has simplified things a bit, hiding the thumbs up and thumbs down ad well as the add and share icons in a menu that can be toggled open and closed with your finger.

You can opt-in to the new YouTube Mobile design by visiting m.youtube.com/new_visual_design on your mobile device and clicking on ‘Try the New Visual Design!’  When you watch videos via the new experimental YouTube Mobile design they’ll ask you whether you think the new mobile experience is “Awesome!” or if you want to “Opt-Out”.

Personally, I really like the look of the new design.  I think it looks less cluttered and it’s definitely easier to look at and navigate than the old design.  What do you think of it?  Check it out and share your thoughts in the comments below!
