Yahoo News 'Hacked' on Twitter, Sends Panicked 'Ebola Outbreak' Tweet
The official Yahoo News Twitter profile (@YahooNews) was allegedly “hacked” * on Sunday night, with the account then used to send a chilling tweet about the Ebola virus.
Around 5pm ET on August 10th, @YahooNews sent the following tweet to its more than 800,000 followers.
“BREAKING: EBOLA OUTBREAK IN ATLANTA! Estimated 145 people infected so far since Doctors carrying the disease were flown in from Africa.”
The message was quickly deleted, with a follow-up tweet immediately dispatched.
Earlier, an unauthorized tweet with misinformation on Ebola was sent from this account; please disregard that tweet.
