Otto Berkes, one of the founders of Xbox, will replace 30-year veteran Bob Zitter as HBO’s chief technology officer, the company said today.
Zitter will step down at the end of March.
Designed with games in mind, Xbox has increasingly moved into TV and film.
Berkes joined HBO in 2011 as senior vice president of digital products. He left an 18-year stint at Microsoft. Berkes holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Electric Engineering from the University of Vermont.
Zitter ushered in HBO’s use of digital compression technology, high definition TV and HBO On Demand.
