Wix introduces platform for mobile website development

Wix’s mobile editor is now available for Wix’s 38 million registered users. Interested users can use the platform to automatically convert their desktop sites into mobile-friendly versions, and can then fine tune those websites using the platform’s customization options. These options allow users to change the scale of items, move features around, hide content and change the overall design of the mobile website to provide as great an experience on mobile as they can. Changes made to the content on the desktop version of these sites is reflected within the mobile versions as well, but Wix users retain constant control over how those mobile sites ultimately look for mobile consumers. The new mobile solution is the latest addition to the Wix suite, allowing SMBs, entrepreneurs and creative professionals to compete effectively however the market evolves.” A recent study by Parago found that 58 percent of adult smartphone users and a third of all US adult shoppers regularly “showroom,” or browse for items in stores that they later purchase online, or even on their phones while still in brick-and-mortar locations. The continuing increase in mobile shopping habits makes it imperative for businesses to offer a mobile version of their websites, even if they don’t offer a full mobile app, just to keep up with the trends.
