‘What’s Trending’ Goes Live 5 Days A Week To Bring You The Hottest Web & YouTube Trends

By Megan O'Neill

‘What’s Trending,’ the weekly show hosted by Shira Lazar about what’s hot in the world of the Interwebs, is rebooting today as a daily show on YouTube.  The daily show premieres this afternoon, and will cover the latest news and trends on the web, with a focus on the latest trending YouTube videos.

According to a press release, “This new channel will see What’s Trending scale production including expanded programming and hyper-targeted coverage in entertainment, pop culture, music, sports, and movies verticals.  What’s Trending will also be rolling out a network of online correspondents for on-the-ground coverage; though Shira Lazar will continue as the primary host and Executive Producer of the show.”

Lazar says, “Since launching in 2011, we have been devoted to delivering the stories behind the news and content that trends on the web and being the definitive voices on relevant viral content, in news, tech and pop culture.  This lets us expand on that goal in a scale-able way as we continue to curate the relevant, trending video content that matters most to our audience, now daily instead of weekly.”

Damon Berger, Co-founder and CEO of What’s Trending, adds, “With this relaunch, we’re looking to curate the hottest and most relevant videos for YouTube’s dynamic audience.  What MTV’s TRL and MTV News did for music videos, we aim to do for the YouTube ecosystem and culture with an interactive and hyper-engaging twist.”

You can check out the premiere of the new What’s Trending daily show today at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET on the What’s Trending YouTube channel or at whatstrending.com.  Do you plan to watch?
