There’s a new tool available for you to track the hottest links on Twitter from 100 of the top news sources online. Popshared.com offers you insight into what’s popular right now on Twitter in the world of tech and social media, showing you which stories have been retweeted the most in the past 24 hours.
Popshared ranks the news of the day based on their popularity on Twitter. Have you heard about that Gizmodo article about the writer who scoffs at her date with a lowly Magic: The Gathering world champion? It’s got over 3,300 retweets. Or what about Eric Schmidt saying yesterday that you’ve got to use your real name on Google+, or don’t sign up? Over 3,000 retweets. And you can view them all on Popshared.
You can sort the news based on six categories, including Tech, Gadgets, Marketing, Search, Apple and Social, and browse up to 15 news sources per category.
You’ll recognize a lot of the publishers on the list of sources that Popshare includes, as they are some of the most popular on the web. They include Mashable, TechCrunch, Gizmodo, Engadget, Seth Godin, Copylogger, SEOmoz, Macrumors and many others.
AllTwitter is also one of the publishers included in the launch of Popshared, and you can view our page here. You can browse our most retweeted articles over the last 24 hours, 2 days or 7 days. This is a great page to bookmark if you want to keep up with what’s happening in the land of Twitter.
Although Popshared has just been launched to the public today, it was operating in private beta for several months prior to its launch date. And interestingly, they’ve found that it takes at least 1,160 retweets for a news item to make it to the top 20.
And for those who want just a quick bite of their favorite type of news, they’ve also created some quick-links for those interested in only the “homeruns” (stories with more than 4,000 retweets), breaking news, or popular infographics.
If you’re looking for a way to stay in the pulse of what stories are trending in tech and social, Popshared is a great place to start.
