Wal-Mart Signs AC/DC to Rock Band Deal
A while back, Wal-Mart and AC/DC announced an exclusive distribution channel for the band’s physical CD, to go with a Verizon Wireless deal for digital downloads. Now, according to the New York Times, MTV plans to announce on Tuesday that it has made a deal with the band and its label, Columbia Records, to create an AC/DC version of the channel’s popular Rock Band video game, which will then be sold only at Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, and on Walmart.com.
The report said that Wal-Mart will create a special area in each of its stores to display the new album and the new game, as well as the band’s catalog of CDs, DVDs and related licensed clothing.
