Vocus Says HARO to Help a Reporter Out

Vocus, a provider of on-demand software for public-relations management, is looking to Help a Reporter Out, announcing that it has acquired HARO, a free Web service that links reporters and bloggers with small businesses and PR professionals.

HARO said its community consists of some 30,000 PR and marketing professionals and 70,000 small-business owners, and it works by having reporters and bloggers use temporary, anonymous email addresses to request sources for stories they are working on.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

UPDATE: For much more on Vocus’ acquisition of HARO, please see our sister blog, PRNewser.

Vocus president and CEO Rick Rudman said:

HARO is a journalist-driven model for sourcing stories that is more in keeping with today’s social approach to relationship-building.
