Vocus bought North Social's software to build its own Facebook page, and liked the product so much it acquired the company.

Vocus bought North Social’s software to build its own Facebook page, and liked the product so much it acquired the company for $7 million — plus the promise to pay up to $18 million in two years if certain performance metrics.

This is the fifth acquisition Vocus has made in the past year, bringing the company up to 650 employees globally. During the first quarter, Vocus bought Datapress in France and BDL Media in China; in the second quarter, Vocus acquired Help a Reporter Out, and earlier this month Vocus acquired Engine 140.
