Millions of people around the world celebrated the start of 2014 by tweeting.
Twitter data analytics team’s Krist Wongsuphasawat created a data visualization that captured the celebratory fever across Twitter as the clock clicked down to midnight on December 31, 2013.
Moving your cursor across the map shows when it became midnight in each of the world’s time zones. The project also includes translations for “Happy New Year” in a dozen-plus languages, and you can drill down to see specific tweets in each.
You can interact with the visualization on Github.
