'Bed Intruder Song' Makes Hot 100, Billboard Ranks Most Awesome Viral Video Remixes

Last week YouTube's Gregory Brothers', also known as Schmoyoho, made history when they clocked in at number 80 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their Bed Intruder Song. Even with over 30,000 downloads and over 11 million YouTube views, it was still surprising that a parody song inspired by an attempted rape would make the Billboard charts, but the Gregory Brothers' and Billboard are running with it, and Billboard has even put together their own list of the most awesome viral video remixes on YouTube. On Friday, Billboard released their own list of 11 Awesome Viral Video 'Remixes', which includes the Bed Intruder Song along with other popular viral remixes including the Double Rainbow Song, the Charlie Bit Me Remix, the Slap Chop Rap, and the David After Dentist After REMIX. I, for one, think that this is extremely cool. Both the fact that the Bed Intruder Song made the Hot 100 and the fact that Billboard is recognizing YouTubers for creating remixed viral masterpieces goes to show just how powerful a tool YouTube can be for getting discovered. So how are the Gregory Brothers' reacting to this exciting news? Drummer Michael Gregory told Billboard that, "Although this is an unusual path to take to reach the Billboard Hot 100, it is a path nonetheless. We're thrilled." The group isn't stopping with the Bed Intruder Song. They have already moved on to their next potential viral hit - a remix of 'Make Sure The Kiddies Are Sleeping Before...', a video of a little girl who overheard her parents having sex that went viral earlier this month. The Mommy & Daddy Song has 173,000 views so far and only time will tell if it will reach the same level of popularity of the Gregory Brothers' other hits, the Bed Intruder Song and Double Rainbow Song.
