Vaulted Gems come to Bejeweled Blitz on iOS, Android

EA has announced an update to PopCap’s Bejeweled Blitz on mobile, bringing a highly requested feature from the Facebook game to mobile devices: Vaulted Gems. These gems are special boosts that can dramatically change the game, adding special diagonal explosions to the board, clearing groups of a single color of gem, and more.

The Vaulted Gem update carries over any gems players had on Facebook, allowing them to be used on mobile. Players can purchase these gems from the game’s items tab using the coins they’ve earned while playing the 60-second match-three game, with this update also introducing a special new Ice-Burrrst Gem to players.

The Ice-Burrrst gem changes symbols to snowflakes on the board, and causes explosions when these snowflakes are destroyed, with the goal of boosting players’ high scores to the top of their friends’ leaderboard.
