Facebook Updates Guidelines for Pages Messaging

Facebook launched messaging for pages last August, and the social network provided guidelines for page administrators later that month. This week, it added to those guidelines.

Facebook launched messaging for pages last August, and the social network provided guidelines for page administrators later that month. This week, it added to those guidelines.

The initial set of guidelines provided by Facebook was:

  • Turn on messaging when you’re ready.
  • Write the way you’d speak to someone in person.
  • Be helpful and to the point.
  • Limit saved replies to frequently asked questions.
  • Respond privately to sensitive questions.

In a Facebook for Business post earlier this week, the social network added:

  • Have a plan in place to be responsive to incoming messages: Depending on how many messages you anticipate, assign a person or a team of people to take the lead on monitoring and responding to messages.
