UK Consumers Prefer Email (And Don't Like Social Media) For Brand Marketing Messages [STUDY]

Consumers of all ages in the United Kingdom overwhelmingly prefer to receive their marketing messages from brands via email, with social media the least preferred channel, reveals a new study.

The Direct Marketing Association partnered with McDowall to determine which platforms UK internet users preferred to receive marketing communications and found that email was the clear choice, favoured by at least 75 percent of consumers across all age demographics. More than eight in 10 18-24 year-olds cited email as their preference.

Social media, conversely, was selected by just 10 percent of 18-24 year-olds – and no more than 6 percent in any other age demographic – with brand contact via post, phone, face-to-face and text message all preferred.
