Smurfs Epic Run

Ubisoft has announced the release of Smurfs Epic Run on mobile. The level-based running game challenges players to rescue the Smurfs, who have been captured in a fog released by Gargamel. The game offers more than 100 levels, and allows players to collect famous Smurfs, like Smurfette, Papa Smurf and Handy Smurf, among others.

In each level of Smurfs Epic Run, the active Smurf runs across the screen automatically, leaving players to tap to jump over obstacles like spikes or gaps in the path, as examples. Gamers can collect coins and power-ups as they run, including coin magnets, coin multipliers and more.

Trapped Smurfs are also found in each level, and while players can complete stages even if they fail to collect the trapped Smurfs, they can sometimes access special running paths by collecting them all.

As players progress, they’ll unlock special ‘Legendary Smurfs’ as new playable characters. However, gamers must first purchase these characters with coins before they can be used in future stages.

Each Legendary Smurf has a special ability. For instance, Poet Smurf can glide over short distances, while Farmer Smurf gives players 10 percent more coins when they complete stages, and so on.

In addition to Legendary Smurfs, players can spend coins on rings, artifacts and companion characters, which each impact future stages in some way. One ring, for instance, causes the magnet power-up to remain active for two seconds longer. Gamers can have up to three extra items equipped at one time.

Players earn up to three stars on each stage, depending on the number of Smurfs they rescue, and the number of coins they collect. Gamers can replay stages to earn missed stars, but stages require energy to begin. This energy recharges automatically over time, or can be refilled using premium currency items. Gamers can also watch video ads or ask their Facebook friends for free energy.

In addition to the game’s main campaign, players can compete against other users around the world in weekly tournaments to earn prizes like coins or premium currency.

In a statement, Véronique Culliford, president of IMPS and daughter of Peyo, the creator of the Smurfs, commented:

We are glad to collaborate once again with Ubisoft on the Smurfs. Working with Ubisoft means a lot when it comes to building a rich and original gaming experience while respecting the Smurfs’ DNA. Smurfs Epic Run is probably the most smurfed title to date and one of the best visual experiences in a game based on our beloved blue characters. Our art teams have been working closely together to deliver what we hope will delight both Smurfs fans and mobile players alike.

Smurfs Epic Run is available to download for free on the iTunes App StoreGoogle Play and the Amazon Appstore.
