Twitter is testing a feature that would allow users to see just the tweets coming from users located nearby, according to a report in AllThingsD.

Twitter is testing a feature that would allow users to see just the tweets coming from users located nearby, according to a report in AllThingsD.

The feature would allow users to look to Twitter for hyperlocal news — say, what’s causing a traffic jam — and for local search features, such as good food in the area.

Currently, Twitter users on both mobile and desktop platforms can choose whether or not to include location information with their posts.

Local search has gotten a lot more crowded of late, with Foursquare and Groupon making moves in that direction just this week.
