Apparently the Marquis de Sade is alive and well and working as director of product development for a French company that makes bathroom scales.
How else to explain the Wi-Fi Body Scale, which, the Los Angeles Times‘s David Colker reports, is “the first bathroom scale equipped with a wireless connection to send your weight and body fat information directly to your Web page and iPhone”?
That’s not the torture part, though. You see, Withings, the company in question, has added another level of sadistic functionality to its wireless-equipped scale: Now users can configure the scale to have their latest weight and body fat numbers automatically tweeted to their followers.
