Brazil ranks second amongst all countries worldwide with the most active Twitter accounts, with one estimation putting this as high as 40-50 million users – about a third of the size of the top-placed U.S. São Paulo ranks fourth amongst all cities by total number of posted tweets.
In December, Twitter opened its first office in Brazil, looking to better support local partners and users. Last week, the official launch of Twitter in Brazil took place, with clients and executives coming together to celebrate the news.
The Coca-Cola Company (@CocaCola_BR) has already been announced as an official partner, and Twitter’s new Brazilian offices look suitably swish.

Twitter is a big deal in Brazil. A 2013 Compete study found that 80 percent of Twitter users follow at least one brand, and almost one-third (29 percent) more than ten brands.
And the money stat for Twitter? More than half of all Brazilian Twitter users say they prefer Promoted Tweets to any other type of online ad. That’s the sort of response any company can take right to the bank, so this office – and Twitter’s enthusiasm for Brazil – is likely to prove a very smart, and lucrative, decision.
