Only 34% Of Tweets Are In English [CHART]

Statista has published another Twitter chart that breaks down the distribution of languages on Twitter.

Turns out only 34% of tweets across the Twitterverse are in English.

That still makes it the top language on Twitter, but the low percentage is indicative of the truly universal nature of the once-small social network.

Here’s the breakdown:

No huge surprise that Japanese is the second most prevalent language on Twitter, given the phenomenon of Castle in the Sky, setter of two tweets-per-second (TPS) records.
