Facebook appears to be testing an extension of its recently introduced Trending feature into the News Feed, as some users are seeing trending hashtags mixed in among the other posts.
The social network introduced Trending last month, adding a list of topics that have “spiked in popularity” to the right-hand side of users’ News Feeds, but not in the News Feed itself. Facebook said at the time that Trending lists will be personalized based on users’ interests, in addition to including topics that are spiking throughout Facebook, and each topic listed will include a headline explaining why that topic is trending.
