The 5 Stages Of “Getting” Twitter In her seminal 1969 book On Dying, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross first introduced what would become commonly known as The Five Stages Of Grief (and professionally, as the Kübler-Ross Model). Based on interviews with more than 500 patients, Kübler-Ross’s research describes the five sequential stages by which people cope with grief and tragedy – denial, anger, bargaining, depression and, finally, acceptance. Kübler-Ross’s study originally applied only to those suffering from terminal illness, but this was later expanded to include any form of ‘bereavement’ – for example, the loss of a job, income or freedom – as well as major life-changing events, such as drug addiction, relocation and divorce. We can also apply this process to Twitter – specifically, the concept of ‘getting’ it. 2. How Social Media Is Replacing Traditional Journalism As A News Source [INFOGRAPHIC] Did you know that nearly half of all Americans receive some form of local news via a mobile device, and 46 percent of them get their news online at least three times a week? Online newspapers officially surpassed their print counterparts in ad revenue in 2010, and digital media has continued to make major inroads ever since. Social media is now one of the top three news sources, commanding an impressive 27.8 percent of the market, and it’s catching up with the traditional newspaper… fast. 3. 10 Twitter Assumptions That Are False Making assumptions is not nice, so stop making assumptions about others on Twitter based on silly things like what they say and how they say it . . . except those two things DO actually count for quite a bit. Seems a few hackers struggle with just that – like Anonymous hacker, John Anthony Borell III. He got sloppy on Twitter and now he’s in a world of trouble for it. 5. They’re hoping that this will get the sneakers into the hands of eager fans, without all that kicking and hair pulling that comes with frantic parents trying to get their kids the latest kicks. 8. Financial Firms Still Prefer Twitter To Facebook, Says Report [STUDY] Twitter has maintained its position as the most popular social networking site for U.S. financial institutions, says a new study. In its Social Media Leaders report, Corporate Insight discovered that at the end of 2011, some 92 percent of the financial companies tracked had a presence on Twitter, up from 51 percent in 2010. 9. Marketers Can Now Target Twitter Mobile Ads By Device Twitter has added a new feature to its advertising options, allowing businesses to target their ads to users’ smart phones. 10.
