At Apple’s flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York, hundreds of people stood in line waiting to flood the shop when the doors opened at 8 am.
An AT&T store in Atlanta had more than 100 folks queued up, the AP reports. Some had even prepared for the wait with snack foods, games and extra smokes.
Multiply those eager would-be iPhone 3G owners by thousands of locations in 22 countries and you’ve got yourself the scene around the world today with a product whose launch hype makes the days of the PS3, Star Wars Episode I and even Cabbage Patch Kids seem tame.
