Spammers went straight to the source over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, targeting the community forum on the Facebook help center.

Unofficial blog Facebook Privacy and Security reported that the community forum was flooded with posts promising access to live streaming of sporting events, predominantly college-football games.

Sophos said that clicking on the links directed users to websites that requested their email addresses, pointing out that the spammers may have targeted Thanksgiving weekend in the hopes that Facebook was lightly staffed.
