Facebook is currently testing another stand-alone application for launch, which would join Facebook Messenger and Camera, and the new app, set to launch in the coming weeks, is similar to real-time picture chatting app Snapchat, according to AllThingsD.

Sources told AllThingsD the app will be stand-alone, like Messenger and Camera, and it will enable users to send non-permanent photo messages to each other.

Snapchat allows users to send photo messages to each other, which are available for a pre-determined amount of time, usually seconds, after which they are deleted from the mobile devices of both the sender and receiver, as well as from the app’s servers, according to AllThingsD.

Snapchat Co-Founder and CEO Evan Spiegel told AllThingsD via email:

We haven’t heard anything from Mark (Zuckerberg) about a Snapchat clone.
