Twitter user @ForkToPen alerted TechCrunch about the feature, and fellow Twitter user Jennifer Ngo also shared an image of the “set a temporary profile picture” prompt.
A Facebook spokesperson confirmed the test to TechCrunch, saying:
We often see people use their profile pictures to support a cause, root for a team and commemorate milestones like birthdays and anniversaries.
