TaxACT Adds 'Express' App for 2014 Filing Season

TaxAct Express1TaxACT, makers of several web- and app-based tax preparation tools, has released a new one for the 2014 tax filing season. The TaxACT Express app is aimed at those with simple returns who want to file their federal return with minimum fuss — and for free. (State returns cost $7.99 to file via the app.)

The app can handle basic returns as well as a few of the more common deductions and issues, including: dependent credits, interest income (1099-INT), dividend income (1099-DIV), unemployment compensation (1099-G), education credits and deductions (1098-E, 1098-T), Earned Income Credit and the Saver’s Retirement Credit.

A nice feature of the app lets the user stop, or take a pause, on filing before returning to it at a later time.
