Taiwan Fines Apple for Interfering with Carrier's iPhone Pricing
The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) in Taiwan has fined Apple $667,000 for price fixing. According to the penalty, Apple is not allowed to meddle with carrier’s pricing plans once they have purchased the rights for iPhone distribution, which gives carriers complete rights to sell the iPhones at their own discretions.
In a statement about the fine, the commission also added, Through the email correspondence between Apple and these three telecom companies we discovered the companies submit their pricing plans to Apple to be approved or confirmed before the products hit the market.”
