Syrian Electronic Army Hacks Microsoft News And XBox Support Twitter Accounts

It’s barely a few weeks into 2014, and the Syrian Electronic Army has wielded its power yet again.

The victim this time? Microsoft, whose @XboxSupport and Microsoft News (@MSFTnews) Twitter accounts were hacked on Saturday.

As Mashable reports, @MSFTnews posted the following tweet just after 2:30 p.m. ET, before it was quickly removed:

Mashable’s SEA contact, dubbed Syrian Eagle, provided them with the following reasoning behind the hacking:

“Microsoft is monitoring emails accounts and selling the data for the American intelligence and other governments.
