StumbleUpon Gets A Whole Lot More Social With Major Redesign

By Megan O'Neill

If you head over to StumbleUpon this afternoon you’re in for a surprise—today the social bookmarking site has launched a reimagined site, complete with a whole slew of new features making the site more social than ever.

The relaunch of is the first major news from the site since they launched a major redesign, complete with new logo and UI, last December.  The latest update includes a more visual layout, new ways to Stumble, the ability to check out friends’ Activity, see what’s Trending, create Lists and more.

One of the coolest new features is StumbleDNA, a color bar that appears on each user’s profile that provides a visual representation of the type of content that user stumbles most.  Check out the video below to see the new design and features in action.

The new reimagined launched in Beta a few weeks back and Senior Product Manager David Baden says that so far it has been a major success.  “We’ve been thrilled by the feedback and usage so far.  Since our Beta release, over 100,000 users have opted in, and our community has created more than 45,000 Lists on StumbleUpon – ranging from Calligraphy to Waffle Raffle.”

Baden adds, “Our more visual layout provides new ways to Stumble, and our users have continued to use it to find the best, personalized content on the Web.  With the new StumbleUpon, Stumblers have also explored new types of content beyond their normal Interest categories through the Activity and Trending tabs.  Along with this, Stumblers now have an identity with StumbleDNA, showing what kind of unique Internet snowflake each individual user really is.”

Apparently, this latest redesign is only the beginning.  StumbleUpon has got more stuff in the works, and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got up their sleeves!

What do you think of the latest redesign?  We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
