Study Finds Media Use Increasing Among Teens

Given all the talk about new devices on which to read and surf the Web, it seems almost irresponsible not to point out this utterly sobering study conducted by The Kaiser Family Foundation showing that teens are spending, on average, a whopping seven hours and thirty-eight minutes (7:38), up from 6:21 in 2004, consuming various kinds of media in an average day–that’s over 53 hours a week!

Here’s what the Kaiser press release says about the cause of the increased media use: “With technology allowing nearly 24-hour media access as children and teens go about their daily lives, the amount of time young people spend with entertainment media has risen dramatically, especially among minority youth.”
