Springpad today announced a redesign of its personal assistant app that includes a socially powered search bar. Publishers and brands will also be able to create and embed notebooks, the app’s signature tool, on their own websites and blogs.

Founded in 2008, Springpad now reaches 4 million registered users on iOS, Android, and the web.

Springpad 4.0 has emerged just as a larger network, Facebook, is starting to experiment with social search. According to Springpad co-founder and CEO Jeff Chow, the question for the Springpad team was, “How can we turn social data into something we can use?”

The answer was taking the information out of the real-time feed and making it accessible any time.
