South Korean Man Indicted for Pro-North Tweets

A South Korean man has been indicted for sending pro-North Korean tweets and for retweeting content from the North Korean Twitter account.

The 54-year-old man, known only by his last name, Cho, is accused of publicly praising the North – a practice which is banned in South Korea.

According to Yonhap News, South Korean authorities said on Monday that this was the first indictment of its kind:

“This is the first time that the investigation discovered that social networking sites were used as means to spread contents benefiting enemies,” an official at the Seoul Central Prosecutors’ Office said.
