Gibson Dunn Partner Ashlie Beringer To Join Facebook As Deputy General Counsel

The deputy general counsel position that has been open since Colin Stretch was promoted to vice president and general counsel in June is now filled, as Gibson Dunn Partner Ashlie Beringer will join Facebook in that role in mid-November.

The deputy general counsel position that has been open since Colin Stretch was promoted to vice president and general counsel in June is now filled, as Gibson Dunn Partner Ashlie Beringer will join Facebook in that role in mid-November.

TechCrunch reported that Beringer will lead the social network’s litigation, regulatory, and product groups, adding that prior to shifting her focus to technology at Gibson Dunn, she was an entertainment litigator who counted rock legend Ozzy Osbourne among her clients.

Facebook said in a statement announcing the hire:

We’re thrilled to welcome Ashlie to Facebook. We have always been impressed with her toughness and commitment to innovation on behalf of her clients and look forward to having her on our team.

And in a longer statement issued to TechCrunch, the company added:

Ms. Beringer has extensive experience defending companies in high-stakes technology and intellectual-property disputes, with particular expertise representing clients in the technology, media, Internet, and entertainment industries. She has successfully represented clients in numerous consumer and regulatory actions relating to online and mobile technologies and data privacy and security issues. In addition, Ms. Beringer has successfully defended clients throughout the country in complex patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secrets disputes, including several disputes involving digital technologies, gaming and application platforms, online and mobile advertising, and ecommerce networks.
