Social Media Has an Ally in BBC Global News Director Peter Horrocks

This isn’t just a kind of fad from someone who’s an enthusiast of technology. I’m afraid you’re not doing your job if you can’t do those things. It’s not discretionary.

Those are the words of BBC Global News director Peter Horrocks, from BBC in-house weekly newspaper Ariel, as reported by guardian.co.uk.

Horrocks added in the Ariel story that Twitter and RSS readers should be essential tools for BBC news editors; that aggregating and curating content with attribution should become part of BBC journalists’ duties; and that BBC journalists should listen to and value feedback.
