What’s the ROI of social media, particularly when it comes to sales?
Shopify analysed data from 37 million social visits that led to 529,000 orders, and discovered that Facebook still dominates as a source of both traffic and sales, with nearly two-thirds of all visits to Shopify stores and 85 percent of all orders therein coming from the social giant.
Pinterest finished second in visitors (13 percent) with Twitter third (10.5 percent).
Both Instagram and Pinterest ranked above Facebook in average order value, behind leader Polyvore (Twitter was 7th), with Facebook again leading in conversion rates (1.85 percent), more than twice that of Twitter (0.77 percent).
And here’s a curio: orders from Reddit increased 152 percent in 2013.
