How Social Media Has Changed The Face Of Business [Infographic]

By Megan O'Neill

Social media is changing the way we do business and a new infographic from Eloqua  takes a look at just how much of an effect it’s had.  The infographic, ‘The Social Business Shift’ takes a look at how services like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, WildFire, Kickstarter and others are shifting business.

The infographic breaks things down into four categories—sales, HR, marketing and R&D—and reveals how social media has cause a paradigm shift in each.  Examples of the “old paradigm” are matched up with the “new paradigm” to show how things are changing as more and more businesses are embracing social.

For instance, where once employees only received episodic feedback from HR, thanks to social media they receive real-time, on-going feedback.  Where once businesses had limited access to background info on customers and prospects, now social media mining tools are being used to find a wealth of information volunteered by customers and prospects.

The old business paradigm was centralized, 9-to-5, with the brand as expert.  Today business is distributed, works globally in real-time, with the community as expert.
