The 2013 BRIT Awards, the UK’s premier annual pop music awards show, has come and gone, with Damien Hirst-designed statues handed out to all the major winners, which included Emeli Sandé, Ben Howard, Adele, Lana Del Rey and Mumford & Sons.

Winners of the BRITs are decided by the British Phonographic Industry, and the results are, usually, fairly predictable. So who would have won if the public had decided?

By analysing mentions made across Twitter, Facebook and blogs, the infographic below details the public’s preferred winner in each of the major BRITs categories, most of which were very different to the actual winners on the night.
