Snapchat, an app that sends texts and photos that disappear after a specified time, has added video messaging to its Android app in an update released today.

The company had been beta testing the feature for Android with European users. It rolled out video in its iOS app in late 2012.

“Making Snapchat video for Android has been exciting, but has also had its fair share of challenges. The Android phones that many of us use were never designed with Snapchat in mind, and that can be tough when developing a hardware-based application,” the company said in its announcement.

Android OS runs on the phones made by a range of manufacturers.
