In an update of its desktop clients, Skype is boosting ease of use by supporting Facebook login and multiple chat windows.
With all chats funneled into different tabs in the same window, it’s easy for a user to lose track of which message is happening in which chat room. Given the service’s huge user base of 280 million, Skype logins can become pretty obscure — easy for both users and their contacts to lose track of. A Skype spokesperson confirmed that users had asked for multiple windows.
Because Skype is part of Microsoft, the updated clients also allow login with Microsoft IDs. Users can instant message contacts from Live Messenger, Hotmail and Outlook.com contacts via Skype. Microsoft will soon support audio and video calls to Live Messenger customers using Skype, the company said.
