Mobile engagement solutions company Scanbuy has today announced a major update to its ScanLife app on Android and iOS. The original app allows users to scan QR codes, barcodes and UPC codes on products to receive price details and other information. With this update, users will now receive personalized discounts, deals and other promotions based on that scanning activity.
With the new ScanLife, users scan QR codes or UPC codes and have the option to receive “hyper-targeted” coupons and promotions associated with those kinds of products. For example, scanning a DVD might give users access to special deals on other home entertainment products, in addition to just DVDs.
Outside of scanning, users can select their favorite product categories on the app’s “My Interests” page, in order to receive product recommendations on food and drink, automotive, travel and tourism, education services, technology, health and beauty products, among others.
Via SessionM integration, users earn mPoints for scanning products, checking their inbox, selecting those interest categories, connecting to Facebook and simply browsing new deals. Points can be redeemed for charitable donations, as well as for gift cards from iTunes, Amazon, Starbucks and other businesses.
“With the refreshed ScanLife app, our tens of millions of users worldwide will now be able to take advantage of personalized digital offers in addition to engaging with their favorite brands through scanning,” said Mike Wehrs, president and CEO of Scanbuy. “Many apps today provide generic offers or promotions that do not take into account a user’s real interest areas. ScanLife delivers hyper-targeted promotions through a user’s scanning history and directly expressed interests.”
To celebrate the launch of this update, Scanbuy has announced the “ScanLife $1,000 Giveaway,” rewarding the prize to the user with the most scanning activity over the next 30 days. ScanLife is available to download for free on iOS and Google Play.
