Samsung was responding to a report in The Korea Times that said the company was working on a project, internally named “Samsung Facebook,” to expand its Family Story social network into a Facebook competitor.

Family Story enables owners of Samsung smart TVs, smartphones, and tablets to share photos, chat, and schedule reminders, and The Korea Times reported that the consumer-electronics giant planned to integrate the service with Amazon’s cloud computing platform, with a Samsung official telling the South Korean English-language newspaper:

By the end of the year, we will have a polished and finished version of Family Story that will be offered first to Samsung device users for free.
