Rihanna Featured In Latest Facebook Sex-Tape Hoax

By David Cohen

The latest sex-tape hoax to flood Facebook uses Rihanna as bait, but the Facebook Security team is already on the job, blocking the links contained in the hoax messages, which were reported as malicious.

Sophos’ Naked Security blog reported on the Rihanna sex-tape hoax, saying that it was spread in the form of invitations to events, which read:

I lost all respect for her after watching this >>

The scam event invitations then included a link made to resemble a Yahoo link, but y.ahoo is a URL shortener that has nothing to do with the search-engine giant, according to Naked Security.

The security blog also offered the following advice for Facebook users who fell victim to the hoax:

If you were fooled into participating in this scam, make sure that any remnants of it have been removed from your news feed, and delete any messages or events you may have inadvertently shared with your friends.

That way at least you are no longer spreading it with your online chums.
