Social and mobile game developer Ludia has partnered with DreamWorks Animation Studios to release Dragons: Rise of Berk on iOS devices. The game is based on the popular world of How to Train Your Dragon, and stars Hiccup, Toothless and the gang as players are challenged to rebuild the viking village of Berk after a dragon incident.
Dragons: Rise of Berk combines city-building gameplay with dragon-raising and collection. Users complete quests to rebuild major characters’ homes, and can use Toothless to search for additional dragon eggs around the world. Toothless and other dragons can be upgraded over time by feeding them fish in bulk, which unlocks new actions for them to complete. The stronger Toothless becomes, for instance, the farther he can travel to find new dragon eggs.
Other dragons can be used to gather wood and fish around the village, which serve as two free currencies and are used to complete most other tasks within the game. Structures can be upgraded to increase their capacity and productivity, and users will need all of the resources they can gather in order to visit the game’s 25 unique islands.
Players can collect 12 familiar dragons from the films, but some are only available with premium currency. This currency can also be used to speed up the completion of quests, the building of structures, and more.
