The results should be taken with a grain of salt, as the survey size was only 1,003 people, but a poll conducted by Reason-Rupe found that respondents trusted Facebook with their personal information far less than they trusted the IRS, the National Security Agency, or Google.
The specific results from Reason-Rupe were:
Which of the following do you trust the most with your personal information?
- IRS 35 percent
- NSA 18 percent
- Google 10 percent
- Facebook 5 percent
Who do you think is most likely to violate your privacy?
- NSA 36 percent
- Facebook 26 percent
- IRS 18 percent
- Google 12 percent
Readers: Did it surprise you that respondents to the Reason-Rupe poll trusted the IRS, the NSA, and Google more than Facebook with personal information?
