How do you take your news in the morning? If you’re anything like a quarter of Americans it’s via social media, with 29 percent also sharing news updates via platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, too.

However, impressive as this number is, it pales in comparison to TV, which is the preferred news source for almost three-quarters of U.S. consumers. When it comes to social, breaking news is the most common type of news story that we share, and 54 percent share stories to inform friends and family.
