Puzzle & Dragons crosses 4 million downloads in North America

Mobile game phenomenon Puzzle & Dragons has crossed four million downloads in North America, taking GungHo’s puzzle battle game to more than 30 million downloads worldwide. It took around six weeks to go from three million to four million downloads in North America, with the company attributing the game’s steady Western growth to its multiple in-game cross-promotions, and availability of real-world merchandise such as comic books.

Puzzle & Dragons sees players collecting hundreds of monsters, each with an elemental affinity (and strength and weakness when compared to other elements). Gamers take their monsters into battle, where they’ll make matches of three or more like-colored orbs to attack monsters in dungeons. Outside of battle, players can strengthen and evolve their monsters into stronger beings, using excess “lesser” monsters they’ll collect for free.

To celebrate the game’s continued growth in the West, GungHo is planning a special two week in-game event for players. Details are still under wraps, but interested gamers are encouraged to keep track of the game’s latest news on the Puzzle & Dragons Facebook fan page.

This upcoming event will be one of many in the game’s history, as GungHo has previously released in-game events themed around Supercell’s Clash of Clans, Batman and Rovio’s Angry Birds, just to name a few.

Puzzle & Dragons is available to download for free on iOS and Google Play. Check back soon to follow the game on AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
