Publishers Association Comments On ‘Digital Economy Act’

The Publishers Association UK wants to prevent eBook piracy and is standing behind the controversial Digital Economy Act, which allows copyright owners to police pirates through legal action. The Act, which came into force last June, is currently under review in Parliament. Telecommunications companies BT and TalkTalk questioned the legitimacy of the Act, but last week a UK judge rejected this claim.

Richard Mollet, Chief Executive of The Publishers Association approved the judge’s move, commented: “Preventing online copyright infringement is a problem for large companies, SMEs  start-ups and ultimately the whole economy.
