Pokemon Go Updates Limit Google Account Access, More
Niantic released two new updates for the Pokemon collection game on iOS.
Following the launch of Pokemon Go in the U.S., New Zealand and Australia July 7, players of the Pokemon collection game have been faced with server issues, forced log-outs, application crashes and even security concerns after it was revealed the game received access to users’ entire Google accounts.
In response, developer Niantic released two new updates for the game on iOS. According to the game’s update notes, these updates “resolved issues causing crashes” and limited the game’s Google permissions. Specifically, the game will no longer have access to users’ full Google accounts, but will instead only be able to “know who [users] are on Google” and view their email addresses.
Elsewhere, the updates reportedly fixed issues related to logging into the game with Pokemon Trainer Club accounts.
