Play Ball: Mariners Social Media Happy Hour

With all of the negative attention Twitter has received in the sports community lately, it and fellow social-media platform Facebook are being embraced by one team: Major League Baseball’s Seattle Mariners.

The ball club will host the first Mariners Social Media Happy Hour prior to next Tuesday night’s home game versus the Chicago White Sox, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports.

Mariners pitcher Ryan Rowland-Smith, described as “an avid blogger and Tweeter,” will be present at the event, and all attendees will receive a free “I Follow @hyphen18” T-shirt commemorating Rowland-Smith’s Twitter name.

The Mariners Social Media Happy Hour will also feature a panel discussion, with scheduled participants including Shauna Causey, Comcast Seattle public relations; Gregg Greene, Mariners marketing director; Rebecca Hale, Mariners public-information director; Jenni Hogan, KIRO-TV channel 7 traffic reporter; Lily Jang, Q13 Fox Morning News anchor; Elliott Pesut, Alaska Airlines social-media specialist; and Mike Salk, radio host, 710 ESPN Seattle.
